In fact, there probably is no premium brand these days.

Unless if Sony finds a way to disable the X2 CPU for better thermal efficiency, it still won’t make any difference from Samsung fabrication.

Having a heat suppression feature allows the phone to run without charging the battery. In return, you lower both CPU and battery stress.

rhs, 4 hours agodoes not matter its too expensive like 1/2/3!I’d still buy one though. After all, Sony phones are notoriously durable in long term use. A friend of mine still keeping his working Z2 as a secondary backup phone despite already moving to 10 Plus since 2020.

potato4k, 2 hours agoSony managed to turn profit by cutting cost and increasing prices.
Lol, how do they cut cost when they use the latest version of pretty much all hardware in the first place? Even the 1 Mk3 and 5 Mk3’s dual focal length periscope camera cost a lot to develop and build. If there’s a reason why Sony can gain profit, it’s because they heavily focus on market that gives them real profitability. Just look at the USA – they are the very last country to get the 5 Mk3 when my country already got it way before them. No surprise since the USA doesn’t give much profitability as most Asia countries.

I definitely can’t wait for this year’s flagship Xperia. I really want to see how TSMC fabrication fairs up with Sony’s HS power control.

In entertainment electronics and more particularly in mobile phones, I support the only Japanese brand in Europe, Sony. I have the Sony Xperia 1 III and going to buy its successor 1 IV or new name. I wonder if the Pro series will continue after the Pro-I? Please that the availability date is close to the announcement!

77, 3 hours agoSony never advertise Samsung and apple spend millions and they bribe , alot off payday for o… moreSpeaking about “hifi” and Sony. I own their top-of-the-line amplifier. This thing absolutely sucks, has software bugs for days. The very common “unwanted Home-screen issue” has happened three times over the last 2 weeks and they never fixed that, or many other issues… This amp also lacks a real room EQ feature, even though it was originally a close to 1000 dollar product and those tend to have the great Audyssey XT32.

Yes, back in the day Sony did have good products that were better than rivals (TV’s especially), but that was back then. Now they overprice whatever they release, generally are painfully slow to include basic features (like PS5’s VRR-support)… You aren’t getting your money’s worth.

techois, 3 hours agoI used to own the original xperia 1… i must admit design is getting boring, probably this wi… moreIt’s not boring. Why change design when you haven’t got any other alternative designs that stand out and appease in public.
Do you rather want them to make the same or not classy Designs??

Microsoft Surface Pro devices sticked their successful design for almost 7 years. Reason for that is they want to change only if they can bring another successful design and not copy others or bring out non sensible designs.

Also some poeple mentioning about 6.5″ 21:9 tall would about the same as 6.6/6.7″ 19:9 smartphones existing in market. If you have no problem with those 6.7″ devices then you would not have any problems with this. On top of that unlike Xperia devices are actually comfortable to hold it 18:9 devices.

Regarding not able to reach notification bar comment, what android version are you using? Because Android already made it default to drop down notification bar swiping anywhere on the screen. This is because of bigger phones since last 4-5 years.
